SIP People’s Congress Working Committee organized a survey on the implementation of the “river (lake) chief” mechanism in SIP on Sept 23, in a bid to help promote water environment improvement.

The survey team visited several waters to check the water quality and environment, learning details about the implementation of the “river (lake) chief” mechanism, under which “river (lake) chiefs” are appointed to carry out regular patrols and other actions for water management.

At the later meeting, SIP Ecological Environment Bureau made a report on pollution prevention and control under the “river (lake) chief” mechanism, and the survey team offered suggestions for future work, including expanding the team of “river (lake) chiefs”, enhancing publicity on environmental protection and using advanced technologies to improve water environment management.
