The 2025 Suzhou-Horgos Cultural Exchange Year kicked off at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre, SIP on Sept 22, containing a series of art shows and other activities designed to enhance cultural exchanges between Suzhou, a city in East China’s Jiangsu province, and Horgos, a city in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

The first show was staged after the opening ceremony, and others will be given at SIP Northern Citizen Center and Kai Ming Theatre in Suzhou on Sept 23 and 24, and then in Horgos in late October. The shows bring together outstanding art troupes from the two cities and highlight the distinctive cultures of the cities.

In late October, performers from the two cities will visit villages, communities and frontier sentry posts in Horgos, letting the seeds of cultural exchange take root and sprout at the grassroots level.

A film screening activity was launched at the same time, with four classic Xinjiang-featured movies scheduled at Suzhou Arts Cineplex from Sept 22 to 26.

A fair opened concurrently, offering a dazzling array of agricultural and sideline products, food products, handiworks and other products from Horgos. Pictures and models were shown on site to showcase projects carried out in Horgos with the help from Suzhou and stories about the friendship between the two cities.
