HIPEX, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group (CISRIG), launched construction on a hot isostatic pressing (HIP) innovation center in SIP on Jan 31.

HIPEX is engaged in the R&D of HIP technology, which employs inert gas under ultra-high temperature and pressure to uniformly treat materials. The HIP technology can significantly improve performance and enable diffusion bonding of similar or dissimilar materials. It is widely used in aerospace, rail transport, semiconductor and other fields.

Centered on HIP technology, the center, with an initial investment exceeding
RMB200 million, will create a comprehensive platform covering HIP technical
services, process R&D, process data integration, new equipment development
and maintenance training. It will also install SIP’s first set of HIP
equipment, empowering local industrial chain upgrading with cutting-edge
technology.
