SIP paints a new picture of ecological development

SIP celebrated the National Ecology Day on Aug 15 with a long list of achievements it had made in integrating ecological principles into every facet of its development.

Rare birds are increasingly making their homes in the parks here. It is common to see photography enthusiasts flock into the Egret Garden at dawn, waiting to capture rare birds with their high-definition cameras.

Last year, over 30 species of terrestrial vascular plants were newly recorded, and the number of birds, plankton and plant species have also increased. At the Yangcheng Lake wetland reserve, overwintering waterfowl have grown tenfold since 2018.

SIP has employed advanced technologies to ensure better protection of local natural resources, such as using drones to help discover pollutants in waters, automatic real-time monitoring systems to supervise changes in the concentration of atmospheric pollutants, and intelligent temperature control technology to improve solid waste disposal.

In SIP Circular Economy Industrial Park, which sits by Wusong River, a system integrating sewage disposal, organic refuse processing and energy recovery is capable of treating 300,000 tons of wastewater daily and converting 840,000 tons of organic refuse annually, saving 150,000 tons of standard coal.

Concurrently, SIP is highly motivated to join hands with companies in it to seek sustainable development, helping them detect environmental hazards in their operations and supporting them to shift to eco-friendly operation modes.

Moreover, SIP organizes tens of events each year to spread environmental concepts among local residents, calling on them to do their bit in protecting environment.
